Q. Do I need to bring my clock or barometer to you or will

you visit my clock at home? 

 

A. We offer a free collection and delivery service for all clocks and barometers. 

 

Q. Can you give me estimates for my clock or barometer

repair or restoration and what is the procedure? 

 

A. We provide a full estimating service for clocks and barometers just call us,

 we will then arrange to come to your home at a time to suit you and collect your

clock or barometer for estimate. Within 3 working days we will contact you with a

 full condition report on your clock. We will offer our recommendations and

options for your clock or barometer and provide you with an exact cost of the

required work. Once accepted this costing will not change and we have no hidden

charges. 

 

Q. Do you charge for estimates or condition reports? 

 

A. We do not charge for estimates, condition reports, or collection and delivery

not even if you do not want us to carryout any work on your clock or barometer,

we will simply return your clock or barometer at no cost.      

 

Q. Can you fix my clock at home? 

 

A. The simple answer to this is no, Clock repair requires special tooling and a

controlled methodical environment, along with monitoring and testing and

 continual adjustment this can take considerable time.  

 

Q. How long will it take?  

A. regular service and overhauls on a simple movement would take around

 two weeks, and this is an average but a good guide, a complete restoration on a

 poor condition piece could take many months. We will advise timescales for all

work at the point of providing an estimate for the cost of repair or restoration,

we will keep the customer fully in formed of our progress and timescales

throughout the process.

  

 

Q. Do you provide a guarantee? 

 

A. All our work is fully guaranteed. Repair and service work is guaranteed for 1

 year, and all restoration work is guaranteed for 3 years. 

 

Q. Do you refill mercury pendulums and barometers? 

 

A. Yes we do please call for details. 

 

Q. What is included in a service or overhaul? 

 

A. We disassemble the movement clean the components ultrasonically, then the

 individual pieces are inspected for wear and damage, any work required is

carried out if a spring driven movement new springs are fitted then the

movement is reassembled, lubricated where necessary tested and regulated then

 your clock is ready to be returned.

 

Q. Should I oil my clock or barometer?

 

A. No only a skilled professional should carry out work on a

clock  oiling a dirty movement causes wear on pinions and bushes,

only certain parts of a clock movement requires lubrication getting

 this wrong will just increase future repair bills. 

 

Q. I have damaged my clock case but the clock still works

 ok can you help? 

 

A. We will undertake any kind of repair or restoration to clocks or barometers,

whether it's a small scratch to a case or a full restoration.
